Never get lost again!
Reviewed by Bruce G. from San Ramon, CA on 06/22/2006 05:53 pm
A Yao Ming commercial on TV is what got me started looking for a GPS and I went to garmin.com to checked out their products. I couldn't believe how many different products they offer. I came across a press release of the StreetPilot c330 Asian Americas Version in their new product page. This new version fits my needs perfectly. I could use the standard English voice and menus and switch to Chinese voice and menus and my mom could use it when she goes out by herself. She's in late 60's and this system will help her get to her friends house as well as bring her home from anywhere. She will never worry about getting lost again. I changed the menu and the voice to Chinese (it also offers Japanese, Korean, Thai) and my mom had no problem navigating the menus and enter a destination.
This is the best GPS system that I have ever bought. It does everything that you want. This system far exceeded my expectations. It provides a very clear voice direction, pre-loaded North America maps so no need to download maps to the unit. It has a Detour icon that you can click on while you are driving if traffic is heavy and it will plan a next best alternate route for you. I almost forgot, I bought this new c330 also because it is pre-loaded with the very latest maps from Garmin. It is the latest just released version 8. I think there are still lots of systems out on the market with the older version 7 maps. Why buy v7 when you could get a V8?

Thanks for the recommendation on this new one!

Thanks for the recommendation John. This C330 Asian version is the newer version of the C330 with better detail street map than the regular C330 which comes with European Voice options. This one comes with Asian Voice besides the standard English voice prompt. This unit has worked perfectly since I received it last week. I'm impressed how easy it is to learn and use right out of the box. Very intuitive. Five minutes after I took it out of the box, it was giving me direction to go to the nearest restaurant. Simply GREAT design. This is my first experience using a GPS and it's my first system. I only regret I didn't get one sooner.
I can't wait until my regular visitors from China and Korea (It also speaks Japanese and Thai.) visits us next so I could just loan it to them to use in their rental cars. Nice job Garmin!
