magellan 4040 maestro review
Reviewed by Lonnie from Portland on 10/10/2007 02:41 pm
Maestro 4040 is a great unit. I did end up buying the traffic kit for the unit as now I can get live traffic reports on this model. I was about to buy the maestro 4000, until I found out that the 4040 is definetly with the few extra bucks for the more advance features such as text to speech and more of those points of interest.

Best Deal Magellan 4040
Reviewed by Magellan 4040 from USA on 09/27/2007 12:34 pm
After doing alot of research I found the magellan 4040 gps to be the best overall value for your money. I love the turn by turn directions of the maestro 4040 and I think magellan has a solid gps unit here. I was also informed that if you buy the magellan 4040 that you should consider buying the magellan dash mount as I did buy that also. Good call. I rate this magellan maestro 4040 very high.

Love it

I have used this GPS unit on trips extending across the country, it has worked flawlessly. The POI search is a bit hard to deal with at times but still good for what information it gives you.
The text to speech is great and with the tone when you are about to take a turn lets you hear what is going on so you never have to take your eyes off the road.

You can't find a unit this good at this price. It is very fast updating, but a little slow when searching for a discounted resturant in the aaa guide.

Maestro 4040 Next Hot Product
Reviewed by GPS Lover from Chicago, IL on 05/19/2007 11:41 am
I recently purchased the Maestro 4040 and am very pleased with the unit. Very good rerouting capability; fast reroute. Easiest full-featured model out there to use. It beats Garmin's hands down. The only thing I did not like was the maneuvers could only be accessed after starting the route. However, the software update on Magellan GPS site worked like a charm and allows the maneuver turn-by-turn directions to be accessed before the route begins (who wants to read maneuvers while they are driving?).
Good company with plenty of experience designing GPS systems. The maps are very accurate. I tested these in several states. This unit can also be upgraded for real-time traffic with a $100 hardward purchase and a traffic subscription and you get the first 3 months for free.

Great New Magellan Unit

I just upgarded my magellan 760 to this new magellan 4040. I am very impressed with this new unit and I really like the larger screen as that makes a big difference. For all you out there who own the 700 or 760 its time to upgrade to the new magellan maestro 4040. Great unit at a good price.

A great GPS unit for all
Reviewed by AndyC from Burlingame, CA on 04/10/2007 08:01 pm
My friend purchased a Garmin Nuvi 660 a month ago and I fell in love with his GPS unit, but I did not wish to pay the price he purchased it for, he paid over $899 for this system OUCH!
I saw this product available on google ad from Autonavdirect and I was able to purchased it for $459 with free shipping which is almost 1/2 the cost of what my friend paid. I expected this unit to be only half as good but to my surprise, the GPS signal acquire almost immediately after I turned it on, the volume is louder than my friends Nuvi 660, the screen is just as bright and the unit did everything I wish it to! The AAA Tourbook feature is also wonderful! I am a AAA member and can now start enjoying all the benefits and savings that is available like show your card and save feature, or Restaurants and Accommodations rating, Events, Attractions, etc., that is all included with in unit. My friend will have to pay for a Garmin upgrade for Saver Guide like an entertainment book and some sort of travel guide if he wish to have some of the same features as my Maestro. This Maestro unit even pronounce the street names and told me which side the address will be on the street I am traveling to just like my friends Nuvi 660. I can't find anything that is really missing except for some travel aid that is included in my friends Nuvi 660.
I live in California which will soon require hands free cell phone kit in all vehicles next year, my friend was showing me his Nuvi Bluetooth handsfree features which he was very proud off, and to my surprise, this Maestro unit have Bluetooth handsfree ability also, now I don't have to buy a hands free car kit next year. This unit just keeps getting better and my friend is now thinkinig of returning his Nuvi 660 for a Maestro 4040.
I am not a great speller and the Maestro will eliminate letters to a street or city as you input an address or city. This is great since it lessens the possibility of misspelling something due to the elimination of letters that is not relevant to the street or City you are looking for. A great feature that is missing from the Nuvi 660.
This is way to cool of a GPS unit and I would say I made the right choice by selecting a Magellan Maestro 4040 GPS system.
This unit have performed flawlessly for me for over a week now, I use it for work and on weekend drives, and I am extremely happy with my decision to commit to an economical/ affordable GPS system that comes with just about everything any body would want. The only slight concern I have is the durability of the housing, seems a bit fragile, but no less fragile than my friends Nuvi 660, so I guess if anything happens to this, I will just have Autonavdirect help me with it. They have been wonderful to me, very knowledgeable and patient. I had tons of questions and the sales support person John was very helpful.
I live about 20 minutes from one of Auto Nav 2000 store location in the Bay Area, and you may ask why did I not buy from Auto Nav 2000 locally? I saved the sales tax and the shipping was free from Autonavdirect. Same company with bigger savings. They sell the Maestro out of their store for $499 which is not a bad price, but by the time you add tax to it, it can add up to a nice free dinner out for me and my wife. These days, every penny counts and I think I got a great bargain for this GPS unit from Autonavdirect.
Thanks Autonavdirect
