have one 3rd edition.turns on with signal less than 30 sec.very nice poi"s.just make shure you let it know what city or zip code its location.also i go internationaly and could take e europe map or w europe but cant mix both.if an address is not found it will bring you very close there and with two taps on screen you will be shown how to come home,,nice.. also all maps are stored on your computer so all maps to anywhere worldwide could be used.loud voices from speaker but street names not said.but shows on screen.usb port used for updates and to charge unit.car adapter uses usb to charge.it is portable and will fit in shirt pocket.use it in new york city and you will shine.battery life could be better and windshield holder sucks .the el model has a bigger screen but it will be to big for me.. has 1 gb internal storage so you have to use a computer for map swaps.battery life is short if using on foot.tom tom web site is good and home program that is included is ok.but when you save maps in folder preferences on your computer be careful. its very confusing knowing where its going,you could overwrite other maps that stored for you.i now realise that this unit is very user friendly,gives directions in pickable voices and pretty accurate in the direction you should go.

- It is compact but still clear while driving showing you your position and surroundings.
- Multiple voices, clear and precise. The GPS doesn't count with text-to-speech, so it won't tell you what specific street name you need to turn on, but it will give you precise directions while driving using different measurements: miles, wards and feed, plus it will consider your driving speed giving you the necessary chance to maneuver.
- Route reprogramming is amazingly quick. Alternative routes allow all sorts for changes before or while driving.
- Multiple colors, day and night for clear viewing.
- Excellent reception under bridges and tunnels and in buildings-crowded areas.
- The screen during driving is very clear, one quick look and you got the info, plus all the items in the screen are customizable, the touch-screen is very sensitive so typing is easy.
- TomTom allows you to update the maps in the unit plus add lots of other features thru an easy to install software.
In summary, the unit will give you every feature that you need in a true GPS, without fancy features like MP3 and others that don't make to them and take a lot more money from your pocket. The power and capabilities of this unit significantly exceeded my expectations.

I looked every where for this item as all the big stores were sold out of this tomtom one 3rd ed. Thank you soo much autonavdirect for having them instock and shipped to me very fast. I love my tomtom one 3rd ed and I love the great price for this little gps.

Thanks for your recommendation on this great little GPS unit. I just love it! The best part is the rebate offer by TomTom. Wow, I didn't think I would be able to find a name brand GPS for such a great bargin and I will be looking forward to my $100 rebate. Oh, I like the part where you could make map and point of interest correction right on the unit. I already made a map correction for the I35W bridge that collapsed so my TomTom would not route me over it.

TomTom One Does NOt have TTS

I bought this tomtom one from Frys and they did not tell me that this unit does not have the feature where it actually says the street name. I guess its just as much my fault that I did not do more research on it. I did find out that if you want tect to speech on the tomtom you should look at the tomtom go 720

Tomtom one third is what I needed

thanks for all your help auto nav direct with the tomtom one as you were able to suggest a gps based on my needs. I would suggest this model to anyone who is looking to get a good gps without breaking the bank.

Buy this One 3rd not the Older tomtom one

For anyone who is looking at getting a tomtom one, make sure you buy this the new tomtom one third edition (3rd) as it has the newest mapping and also the new mapshare technology which is great. I would have to say that this unit is very well priced and worth the few extra bucks than the older tomtom ones.
