Great bang for the buck
Reviewed by Garmin user from TX on 04/16/2010 03:23 pm
I bought this GPS because I was about to take 2 long business related road trips. I won't bore you with a long review so I'll get right to the points.
Pro's:
- Love the fact that it speaks street names.
- Automatically compensated for the time zone adjustments when it displayed the "Arrival Time".
- Since it plugs into the lighter, I like the fact that it goes through a power-down mode automatically when it looses power.
Con's:
- On a couple of occasions, the route it wanted me to take was not necessarily the best, it was more of a farm road so you have to be a little conscientious and use the 'Detour' button.
As I mentioned above, overall, it's my opinion that it's a "Great bang for the buck"! You can always spend a lot more to get extra features on the other models, but who needs all that?

Excellent for the Price

Excellent except for wanting me to travel by interstate no matter how close I am to the place. Love seeing street names and it telling me the street name I need to turn on.

Garmin 255

This was used for the first time on a trip to Chicago. Entering the hotel address was easy. The unit never missed a turn and even used the bypass around Cleveland during the busy daytime hours. I like the turn arrow that alerts you to the direction of your next turn so that you can be in the proper lane. Very useful in Chicago traffic!

what we expected

My husband was very happy with this Father's Day present. It has made his life in sales much easier. Easy to set up out of the box. However the directions instruct you to hook it up to the computer and it does not come with a computer cable. Luckily our digital camera cable works. We did order a AC/DC charger and case so that we can use it when we are walking in the city without having to leave it in the car to charge.
