New c500 series Features
In addition to the simple touch-screen display found in previous versions, the StreetPilot c530 along with its counterparts, the StreetPilot c550 and StreetPilot c510, come loaded with new c500 series features including:
High-sensitivity GPS receiver – provides faster acquisition times and maintains signal under heavy foliage and near city skyscrapers
Automotive-grade, sunlight-readable, anti-glare display – makes it easier to see where you’re going
Streamlined design – creates a slimmer, more refined shape
Configurable vehicle icons – allows you to select a fun, customized car-shaped icon that displays when autorouting
Garmin Lock™ – anti-theft feature that disables the unit from performing any functions until you type in a specific 4-digit PIN or take the unit to a predetermined location.
Integrated Traffic Receiver
Monitor traffic tie-ups with the addition of an optional traffic receiver. In select metro areas, with the addition of the GTM™ 20 FM TMC traffic receiver*, the SteetPilot c530 notifies you of accidents, road construction, and weather-related traffic delays before they are encountered, and then offers an alternate route. Simply touch the screen icon to calculate a new route.
GPS Navigator
The c530 comes with preloaded maps of North America and includes automatic routing, 2D or 3D map perspective, and turn-by-turn voice directions that speak street names — making navigation easy. It also accepts customized points of interest (POIs) such as school zones and safety cameras.

This is a excellent product!

I looked for months for the right GPS to purchase. I compared size, features, functions, ease of use, screen quality, battery power, customer support, web site and looks of the unit.
The clear winner for me was the StreetPilot C530. Why?
**. The screen is great in sunlight...clear and bright
**. Ease of use...push the 'where to' button and key in your destination or select from the favorites or POI's
**. POI's - It has an excellent selection of points of interest with the name, address and Phone #
**. Clear and loud speakers - Has 2 speakers that clearly provide the turn by turn instructions.
**. Battery powered - Works on both battery and car adaptor
**. Transportable - Though nothing like the NUVI, you can easily transport the unit in a pocket or briefcase
(The screen is brighter than the Nuvi's)
**. Excellent web site with clear instructions and software that manages updates to the unit.
**. Night mode - Changes to a soothing black screen at night. It knows exactly when the sunrise or sunset is on each day.
**. Excellent mount - Ball and socket mount gives lots of flexibility on where to mount in the car.
Bottom line...Garmin really got this one right...great screen, nice size, easy to use, loud speakers, nice looking, battery powered...highly recommended...
It is simply a great GPS! I really enjoy using it each time. I have only used mine for about a month but I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to paper maps or MapQuest printouts again.
I also want to thank the live support for his patience in answering all my questions!

A GPS I can't do without!
Reviewed by Spencer C. from Golden, CO on 06/28/2006 06:46 pm
I bought the C530 after I decided to give my c330 to my daughter as she will be going away to school in Southern California and I know she could use a GPS to help her getting around. She is also already an expert user of my C330. I got the C530 because it's the latest StreetPilot from Garmin and I was very satisfy with the C330 for almost a year and the C530 has an improved GPS receiver, an improved antiglare display and a new feature called Garmin Lock which I think it's a great idea. You could store a PIN and the system could only be use after you enter your PIN or start from your pre-set location. I also taped a little sticker with my phone number on the back of the unit so in case it ever gets lost or stolen, it would not be functional without the PIN and it might find its way back to me somehow, I hope. Got it last week and it has worked great, seems the speakers are also improved. I like the new small suction mount as well.
I will also look into the other available options like the Traffic data, Travel Guide and SaversGuide.
If you do not need MP3 and Bluetooth, I would highly recommend the C530.
