DVD map update
PROS
1. the new mapping software update is stored inside your computer internal
memory and no SD card to lose.
2. it puts a copy of the mapping on your computer that you can look up
addresses and create routes and then send them to your unit (this only apply's
to certain GPS units)
3. the DVD map updates are normally more affordable due to cost of DVD vs
SD
CONS
1. you may need your own SD card to download the firmware from Magellan
2. you have to load the mapping software via PC yourself instead of having
it preloaded on a SD card
3. when you install the maps to your computer, you unlock the maps to a
certain unit only. You can make 100 cards if you want, but they are only going
to work on the one GPS that you unlocked them to.

2. if you have multiple units, it will work in what ever unit you put it
in
3. you do not have to purchase your own blank card

1. if you lose the map SD card, you have lost your mapping software rights
2. you can not update the mapping in the future, you would have to buy yet
a new SD card map
3. you will not have a copy of the mapping to load to your computer to use
for creating routes and looking up addresses on your computer (this only
apply's to certain GPS units)
4. SD card software normally cost a little more due to cost of the SD
memory card.

| What is the process to have the unit updated with the latest information? |
Answer:
Auto Nav 2000 plan to offer the update service and or a DVD (depending on file size) when updates are available from Magellan. You will also need a USB cable and AC power supply to be able to connect the Magellan RoadMate to your PC and power the unit. You may purchase these soon through our online store if you do not already have them.

| Why is my unlock code not accepted? |
Answer:
Please check that the internal serial number of the unit is the same as the one provided during your purchase of the map update. If there is an error, please contact Magellan or Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc directly.

| Can I use other applications on my computer during the map update? |
Answer:
It is highly recommend that the map update is performed when you do not need to use your computer for several hours; It is also recommend that all applications be shut down or temporarily disabled before the map update is performed to ensure the integrity of the data transfer.
Please turn off all Anti virus software, disconnect Internet connection, disable power saver mode, shut down all applications before performing update, any disruption durning Map update process can corrupt the files for the map software update
Always use AC power supply to power up your GPS unit when updating your GPS unit to ensure no lost of power during map update process.

| Windows is giving me a driver warning message, what should I do? |
Answer:
While the GPS unit is being updated, a driver message may appear. Please ignore the message and continue the installation. This has no adverse impact on the map update process.

Answer:
While this is not necessary, we highly recommend that the power saving option be temporarily disabled to ensure the integrity of the data transfer.

| Is it normal that my GPS unit goes through a series of screen changes and restarts during the map update process? |
Answer:
Yes, this is the normal behavior during the map update.

| After my map update, the GPS unit no longer indicate which side of the road the final destination will be on, is that normal? |
Answer:
Yes, this is one of the feature that was eliminated with the new mapping software update possibly due to memory space issue. The voice prompt now does pronounce upon arrival the name of the street then follow by the complete address and name of street. It even pronounce the name of business if it's a listed POI instead of which side of the street the destination is located.

| What is causing an error message during your map update process? The unit
shows "The product identifier of the unit Magellan Maestro is not compatible
with this upgrade"? |
Answer:
"Warning, some GPS units are not authorized to be sold in North America,
most are from China.
Example: there is a C after the model number instead of showing Maestro
model number 3100, it will show Maestro 3100C. These units are known to be Gray
Market GPS units and normally sold to consumers at a huge discount illegally.
If you happened to own one of these Gray Market GPS unit, this map update
will recognized that the unit you are attempting to update is not authorized
and will not allow you to perform the update. Auto Nav Direct are not
responsible for units that are illegally sold in NA and once the maps are sold to
consumer, they are consider sold and not returnable.
Please back up your address book before shipping unit to us. Insert a black SD card to save your address book information. Simply select Menu - User Option - Backup and Restore - select Backup and when you receive your unit back simply follow the process and select restore with your SD card in the SD card slot.
Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc / Auto Nav Direct understand updating software maybe difficult for some customers, and for this reason we offer a map update service for those who do not wish to deal with possibility of map update failure issues.
There has been cases when customer attempted to perform the map update on their own and failed due to numerous reasons during or after the map update which render their GPS system useless.
Some causes can be lost of power to GPS device during update, Internet security popping up or blocking the update, conflict with computer that is used for updating maps, wrong operating system or not following the proper map update procedures when performing map software update etc.
All these conflict can and may cause the GPS unit you are updating to lock up and or fail.
Important:
If software/firmware update installation is interrupted in anyway
including interruption due to low battery power, your GPS may no longer be able
to operate. Be sure to charge battery fully with an authorized AC charger
before starting the map/firmware update installation procedure. Note that you
perform software / firmware update at your own risk. You assume the entire cost of
all service, repair or correction if necessary.
Unit may be required to be sent back to factory for repair if unit fails during update.
Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc / Auto Nav Direct cannot be responsible for any such failure beyond our immediate control and customer understand they must take full responsibility for any such failures should it occur and contact the GPS factory directly for resolution should this type of map update failure occur.
We sell the freshest maps that are currently available, and cannot guarantee when the next new map will be released by manufacturers. If you buy the map, you are responsible for your actions and there is no refunds or returns if new maps is available after you purcahse your map updates.
